The Michell Merhige Scholarship is a one-time $1500 award given to two students each year.

All of the following must be returned by March 10 to your College and Career Center:

Completed and Signed application (parts A-E) APPLICATION

Personal Statement (about 350 words)

Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA)

If the SAR is unavailable, last year’s tax form may be substituted.

Two letters of recommendation: One letter must be from a teacher One letter must be from a counselor If you wish, one additional letter of recommendation will be accepted from a person outside of school, who is not a family member

HOW RECIPIENTS ARE CHOSEN

This scholarship is funded by the Michell Merhige Scholarship Fund, administered by the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia.

Students must complete all graduation requirements to be considered for the Michell Merhige Scholarship Fund. All graduation requirements must be completed by graduation day to receive the award.

Recipients of the Michell Merhige Scholarship Fund must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Academic ability

• Leadership/Mentoring

• Financial need

• School Involvement

• Work/life experience

Incomplete and/or late applications will not be considered.
